Volunteer orientation sessions. Contact Dave Russell at 252-8474, ext. 11 and become involved in the evolution of the river and learn more about RiverLink and join Jim Stokely to learn more about his mother, Wilma Dykeman.

 


RiverMUSIC Volunteer Information Party

RiverMUSIC volunteer information and appreciation party. This year's RiverMUSIC is going to be bigger and better so that mean's we're going to need more volunteers. Paddle Trail Launch Party

Please join us at Asheville Adventure Rentals from 1 to 5 on  Saturday May 11, 2013, to help RiverLink celebrate the launch the French Broad River Overnight camping Paddle Trail and our new interactive online map!  We have planned  a fun filled day of games and workshops designed to illustrate how to utilize and access our free no reservation required overnight camping sites. 

 Start the day with a  float down  the river.   

We will demonstrate our new online map,offer  a variety of  beers for sale, thanks to Asheville Brewing Company and Altamont Brewing.  Bring the whole family and make it a day of great food from food trucks, a corn hole tournament  and  ice cream from the Hop. You can even win raffle prizes  thanks to generous  donations from Blue Heron Whitewater, ENO, Second Gear, Mast General Store, Fifth Element Massage and  others.

When: Saturday May 11, 2013
Time: 1pm-5pm
Where: Asheville Adventure Rentals - 
407 Riverside Drive, Asheville NC 28801 
at the base of the Pearson Bridge, just south of  the By Water

Schedule of Events: 
Noon - Float Trip
1:30pm - Fishing Clinic
2pm - Hammock Camping Clinic
3pm- Overnight Raft Trip Clinic

Asheville Adventure Rentals is hosting a Float Trip starting at Noon from Jean Webb Park to AAR. Participants will receive a 25% discount on boat rental and shuttle.  
Cost: $30 for boat and gear rental, and shuttle, $10 for shuttle only if you bring your own boat.

If you want to shuttle to Jean Webb Park or need to rent a boat for the float, please arrive at AAR by 11:30am. Or you can meet us a Jean Webb Park at Noon with your own watercraft.

RiverLink to Host Fourth Friday Salon Series

The fifth seminar will be held at the RiverLink offices (170 Lyman Street- across the street from 12 Bones) on Friday, May 31, starting at 3 p.m.

 

Kalinowski is a retired and popular professor from Warren Wilson College and the author of numerous articles and treatises that are thought provoking and informative about the complex world in which we live today.

The purpose of these interactive lectures is to explore a deeper understanding of environmental issues and to attempt the placement of these issues in a larger social, political and historic context.

The fifth seminar is titled "Two Dreams and a Nightmare: The Environmental Legacies of Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and James Madison."

The dates for Salon Series are February 22, March 22, April 26 and May 31, and June 28.

RiverFront Bus Tours

Thursday June20, at 11:45 am, meets at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. Come experience the Riverfront Magic first hand!

If you ever wondered about the river development project – this is your opportunity to see and hear about the plans for the future. The bus will meet you at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce at 36 Montford Avenue (directions) at 11:45 (leaves at noon) and return you there at 2. Look for the white City of Asheville van in the third level of the parking lot down the hill from the Chamber building.

This tour is free for RiverLink members.  Non-member cost $20 per person.  Lunch is not provided but you can bring your own. Reservations are a must – so contact Jess at 828- 252-8474 ext. 17 or click here to make your reservation online.
