Annual Fund
Drive: thanks to you we made our goal!
A
big thank you to all the wonderful donors who contributed to this year's
annual fund. Thanks to your generous support we raised $200,000 and
attracted over 90 new donors in support
of the French Broad River watershed as a destination where we can all
live work and play. Your donations to the annual fund will
underwrite two new Ameri-Corps Volunteers, our volunteer and education programs
as well as RiverLink's Riverkeeper Program. We promise that this
will be another exiting year on the river and in the watershed and that
we will continue to leverage your investment in us. We are a grassroots
organization funded entirely by your support and we very much appreciate
you! We couldn't do it without you!

Guests Dance, Drink &
Dine at the French Broad River Yacht Club Party
More than 180 guests celebrated the
French Broad River at RiverLink's French Broad River Yacht Club's Get
Lucky on the River on Friday June 13th at the
Mica Village Eco Lofts Community on the Swannanoa River in
historic Biltmore Village. Thanks to generous donations from our
guests, members and sponsors, over $12,000 was raised to help
RiverLink continue its mission to revitalize the French Broad River
watershed!
Yacht club guests, dressed in their
finest yacht club attire, enjoyed delicious food and drinks as
generously donated by Lobster Trap, Fiores, Dawg Star Coffee, Jack of
the Wood, The Venue, Canteen Vending, David D. Smith Engineering, The
Silverman Eco Community and the Venue and Sweetwater beer while
lounging on the beautiful grounds of Mica Village overlooking the
Swannanoa River and dancing to great tunes. Through tours of the
Mica Village Eco Lofts, one of many sites on the future Wilma Dykeman
Riverway, guests learned how the former Mica Factory was transformed into
eco friendly condos with many green building features.
This party would not have been such a
success without the help of our awesome RiverLink volunteers and
especially to Kristie Quinn for obtaining sponsorships, Regina Trantham
and her Mica Village family and crew for the fabulous venue, Leslie Godbold
of Asheville Stagers for donating decorations and interior design
expertise, John Fletcher for taking fantastic photos and the DJ team for
spinning the tunes - Pache Hodges, Glen Davis and Drew Gardner. We
also send our appreciation to the following sponsors: John Dietz for
creating the French Broad River Yacht Club logo and poster and Allegra
Print & Imaging for printing the posters.
THANK
YOU FOR EVERYONE'S TIME, ENERGY AND CREATIVITY in transforming Mica
Village into a first rate yacht club!

Quote
There
is no rushing a river. When you go there, you go at the pace of the water
and that pace ties you into a flow that is older than life on this
planet. Acceptance of that pace, even for a day, changes us, reminds us
of other rhythms beyond the sound of our own heartbeats.
