Do you know an individual, a commercial development or an institution like a school or government in the French Broad River watershed that has done an
outstanding job protecting and preserving water quality? Then nominate them for a RiverLink RiverWise Award. Each year RiverLink seeks to
acknowledge and celebrate good RiverWise practices by individuals, developers and institutions.
In 2005, RiverLink gave RiverWise Awards to:
- the Drover’s Road Project an outstanding conservation development project;
- Catherine Rauscher a courageous woman who marshaled a variety of resources after the 2004 to transform and save her garden and to
- The Evergreen Charter School for the rain gardens and other best management practices (BMP’S) RiverLink installed and the school has incorporated
into its curriculum.
The pace of development is increasing in WNC and land is disappearing at an alarming rate, with potentially severe impacts on water quality and habitat.
In response to this, the RiverLink Board of Directors established the RiverWise award to heighten awareness of the need to protect water quality in all types
of development whether by and an individual, an institution and/or especially in commercial development.
